What actually happened was Vinuth who used to study in the private college at Puttur had first sent this false message claiming the death of lecturer to a particular WhatsApp Group. However, the message was soon widespread and circulated widely between relatives, friends of the lecturer. Friends & Relatives rushed to the lecturer’s residence late night and they all were shocked seeing the lecturer himself opened the door. As soon as realising that this was the prank played by some miscreants, a complained was lodged in Puttur town police station. Inspector Mahesh Prasad who is investigating the case quickly caught Vinuth behind all these mishappenings and arrested him. This all had happened just because of the incident which took place about two years ago. Police said when Vinuth was studying PU in Puttur’s Vivekananda PU College, he invited Parameshwara Sharma for teacher’s day celebrations. However, the lecturer turned down and insulted the boy for the invite. So spreading the fake message claiming that lecturer is dead is just to take revenge when the alumni of Vivekananda College were gearing up for this year’s Teacher’s day celebration. Vinuth sent the fake message on the Alumni WhatsApp group, which says lecturer has died of a cardiac arrest and it was shared with many groups in no time. Lecturer Parameshwara Sharma told Times of India “Vinuth wasn’t my student. I don’t remember this invite at all. Since a FIR has been registered against the boy, the college management will decide the next course of action.” Vinuth faces charges of criminal intimidation charge under IPC Sections 506 and 507
