The partnership between these two technology giants will allow, in the near future, there is another submarine cable to connect the American continent to Asia. With a length of 12,800 Km and an estimated cost of $400 million, this will be the fastest to connect these two continents with speed of 120Tb/s, surpassing the previous which is owned by Google. Pacific Light Cable Network will be composed of five fiber pairs, with each pair to be able to transmit data at 24Tb/s. Each of the partners in this construction will have an access to a couple this fiber managed to keep their private traffic and separated from the rest. The 120Tb/s cable is a very high-speed cable, but not the greatest of all. The MAREA cable, the result of a partnership between the social media giant Facebook and the tech giant Microsoft can speed 160Tb/s. The main reason for these differences is the distance speed covering. The MAREA has only half the distance of this new cable and it manages the higher speeds. The idea of this new access is to ensure lower latency times and higher bandwidth to customers in Asia Pacific region. Thus, both Google and Facebook want to improve access to its services in this region of the globe.
